The flowers of the Mallee are amazing and survive in a rugged environment. Approximately 300 species of plants have been identified in the area. The following are an example of ones flowering in the Spring. South Australia and Victoria share many of these plants in the Mallee region.
Mallee flowers are best discovered when you stop, pause and really study the environment. They are normally very small yet offer a diverse and beautiful range of styles, textures and shapes that once you start to appreciate can really begin to enjoy searching for and identifying different species. Here is a small selection for your enjoyment. Thanks for Jocelyn Lindner from Cowangie, Victoria for assisting in the naming of these plants.
